Collective Bargaining update!!
Just to keep you updated before the holidays, the committee and our legal counsel met with the division December 10, 2009. Unfortunately, we were unable to finalize our negotiations and have reached an impasse with the division. The services of a Conciliation Officer have been requested. A Conciliation Officer is a neutral third party appointed by the Minister of Labor and who attempts to bring together the parties in a dispute for reconciling their differences. There is no charge to either party. We have already received the letter from the province and await a date for the meeting.
For any members that were around 4 years ago, we did go thru the same process to get a Collective Agreement. The process with the Conciliation Officer took one day.
